ASISSTED REPRODUCTIVE TECHNOLOGIES

 

General objectives of the Master Program:
-          Learning by the students of the most advanced knowledge in the field, learning the modern research techniques and their use in order to develop know-how in the field and solving specific problems;
-          It aims to create independent research skills and ability to lead working groups and communicate in different contexts;
 
Specific objectives of the Master Program:
-          It aims to bring students a vision of current scientific and progress in reproductive biotechnology and demonstrate their application in the practical management of animal reproduction;
-          Training of young professionals and researchers who have the capacity needed to develop and evaluate operational programs and improve animal reproduction;
-          It aims to gaining the necessary expertise to participate in research projects on reproductive biotechnologies, genetic improvement and preservation of animal genetic resources;
-          Acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in specialized areas of reproductive biotechnology, biotechnology and genetic engineering and embryo associated with their use in order to improve reproductive performance and rapid change in genetic structure of animal populations by livestock interests;
-          Formation of highly professional staff able to use basic concepts and tools of animal reproduction, analyze, make decisions, according to the interests and professional goals;
-          Acquiring new skills to better employability (reproductive management programs, selection and breeding programs of animals);
-          The program applied part is focused on puberty control, estrous cycle, spermatogenesis, induction and synchronization of estrus and ovulation, the mammalian embryo transfer, handling, copying and modifying the genome of mammals, birds and fish etc.;
-          Deepening theoretical knowledge into the molecular mechanisms of genome change in the embryonic nucleus;
-          Knowledge of the possibilities for correct estimation of population genetic parameters;
-          Knowledge of the traditional methods for predicting breeding value and methods that use "genetic-statistical method" to achieve a more accurate estimate of individual candidates for selection;
-          The impact of reproductive biotechnologies efficiency of embryo-transfer associated programs on genetic improvement of animals;
-          Knowledge of the design and optimization of a genetic improvement programs;
-          Training of specialists in small animal reproduction able to control the reproductive programs in the intensive breeding farms;
-          Acquiring basic knowledge in biochemistry of reproductive processes and at the molecular and cellular patterns;
-          Apply knowledge of biochemistry, biophysics and bioenergetics in order to increase the efficiency in domestic animal reproduction;
