Fodder Production Systems

1. Mission

In accordance with the declared mission of the Faculty of Agriculture, oriented, through its two directions, education and research, towards the formation of specialists in the field of agriculture, the master study program ”Fodder Production Systems” answers the requirements of the social-economic environment, assuming the mission to contribute, by offering a formation program adpated to the students’ needs, to their specialization in the topic of fodder production in large and small animal breeding farms, family farms (agro-silvo-pastoral systems); in depth knowledge through inter-/multidisciplinary approaches; research development and using its results for the optimization of technological processes for grass land and fodder crops.

2. Objectives

  1. he use of specific reserach concepts, methods, techniques and instruments in order to elaborate technological links for the production, preservation and depositing of quality fodder.
  2. Management of the fodder base and reduction to a minimum of the ecologic impact of fodder production systems (nutritive element cycle analysis, manure management, grazing systems, fodder preservation and depositing systems etc.,).
  3. Identifying new methods and techniques for the investigation of biological properties and fodder and ecologic value of some fodder plant species and/or some permanent pasture biotypes, as biologic material for grass land seeding or overseeding.
  4. Inter- /multidisciplinary integration of knowledge about the soil-plant-animal interconnection in fodder agro-ecosystems, palying a role in fodder production.
  5. Applying proper methods, techniques and procedures for the particularization and optimization of technological processes for grass land and fodder crops, under the framework of fodder production systems.
  6. Interdisciplinary approach of grassland and fodder, of their social-economic potential, in the context of sustainable development of local communities.
  7. Design and practical implementation of research projects, carried out individually or in a team; result evaluation and dissemination using proper language specific for the communcaiton in various professional environments.
