The University of Life Sciences “King Mihai I” from Timisoara is part of the few won European project, namely “European Universities designing the horizons of sustainability, SHE’s”, funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation, together with Universidade do Algarve, Portugal (Coordinator of the Project ), Universidad de Huelva, Spain, Lab University of Applied Sciences, Finland, Ludwigshafen University of Business And Society, Germany, Tomas Bata University in Zlin, Czech Republic and associated partners from South America and Africa.
The Sustainable Horizons’ aim is to present a hybrid model of research and higher education, supported by the institutional transformation of the European universities involved.
“This project is a very important one for our university, placing us among the promotors of sustainability pilots and encouraging open science access policies” says Prof. univ. dr. Popescu Cosmin Alin, rector of ULST.
The project started in September 2022 and for the next two years, it will represent a bridge between European higher education institutions (SHEs partners), from countries in other continents (SHEs associated partners) and non-academic institutions.
“The research within this project will be focussed on environmental issues, socioeconomical impact, bringing an added value by the PhD researchers involved, with the aim of contributing to the sustainability of activities on campuses, regions and globally”, says Assoc. prof. dr. Laura Șmuleac, Manager of the project from ULST.
